Live wallpaper apps for Mac compared
What the main Mac apps cost, what you get, and what we built Hazewall to do differently. We make Hazewall. Details for the other apps come from their own sites on 2 November 2026 and can change.

What Hazewall does differently
A desktop that doesn't look like everyone else's. Every wallpaper is an original made for Hazewall and cut so the loop point doesn't show. You get a set worth using, with no digging through thousands to find a good one.
It stops when you can't see it. Hazewall pauses when a window or full-screen app covers it, when you unplug, in Low Power Mode, when your Mac runs hot, and when it's locked or asleep. Playing 4K on an M4 MacBook Pro used about 3% of one CPU core in our test.
Your own videos are included. Drag in an MP4 or MOV and it's your wallpaper, with a different one on each display if you like. There's nothing extra to unlock.
Pay once, no account. US$14.99 with free updates and a 14 day refund. No subscription and no sign-up.
What it doesn't do yet
Hazewall has no lock screen wallpapers or community uploads yet, and its library is smaller because we make every wallpaper ourselves. It needs an Apple silicon Mac.
What about Wallpaper Engine?
It's Windows and Android only. Here's what that means if you're on a Mac.
